My dad taped this concert as it was broadcast over the air by WAPI-TV in Birmingham, Alabama. I don't remember when it was recorded or when it was broadcast. The recording is in mono and there is a persistent 160 Hz. hum that is not too intrusive. I tried a notch filter centered around that frequency and it worked pretty well on the spoken introductions. I decided not to apply it to any of these mp3 files. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have not contacted WAPI-TV in B'ham. about obtaining a release for the "publication" of this broadcast. (I assume that when you post something on a web site, it is a form of publishing.) As I understand copyrights as they apply to performed music, the performing artists and the recording 'artists' have somewhat equal rights to a recorded performance. That is, unless those rights have been forfeited or re-assigned by either party. I am not aware that any such document was signed by ISS or WAPI-TV. There may have been one signed long before I got there. I hope no one cares about such things.... I do know that broadcast companies generally reserve all rights to a broadcast. That is exactly what the music on these mp3 files represents - a copyrighted broadcast. However, this is only the audio portion of that broadcast and there is no intent to profit from it. I hope this doesn't generate a lot of legal hassel for either WAPI-TV or ISS. These music files are placed here for the private use of ISS alums and faculty - past, present and future and anyone else who enjoys glee club music. Also, I've done my best to track down the composers/arrangers and lyrics of the songs sung here. There are some I can't find at the moment. Evert Holly does a good job at introducing the soloists so I haven't bothered to do that. Please e-mail me with any corrections. I'll try to get them incorporated here. -John H.
