I don't remember how I came about this recording. It is a 4 track tape that is unlabeled. I don't remember if it is a copy or whether as I suspect, it is the original master tape. I think that I came about it whilst cleaning out a room that was once a music listening room. Since I had no access to a tape deck at school, I probably took it home. Either I made a copy (we had two reel-to-reels) or more likely, I just kept the original. So I don't even know if this music was copied from the master tape. If it was, there is a better copy floating around out there. It and several other glee club tapes that my dad made of several other concerts stayed up in our attic in Birmingham for many years, forgotten. When my dad died in 1998, I cleaned out the attic and found the old tapes. I am rather amazed that the tapes survived at all in the heat, cold and humidity. As to the concert, I'm afraid I can't be of any help. It was certainly before my time at ISS - Fall of 1967 through spring of 1971. I suspect from the content that it was a spring concert - perhaps homecoming of 1967. It sounds as if it were made in the gym but there is relatively little if any crowd noise. If it was a live concert, the applause was edited out. I don't recognize the accompaniest - Mark Russakoff would be my guess. If not Mark, perhaps John Craig??? Also, I can't remember or can I find on the internet, any reference to the setting of "Adoramus Te." Also, I am guessing that the composer of "Holy is the Lord" is Franz Schubert, but I'm not sure about that. I also can't seem to find who wrote "The Erie Canal." I think this was John Jennings' first or second year as glee club conductor, but again, I'm guessing. Also, who was the soloist in the Carl Orff piece? There is a piece by the woodwind ensemble that sounds like Mozart. Two clarinets and one bassoon? I can't tell precisely. I don't ever remember anyone who could play the bassoon at ISS. I do remember Walter Moeck raving about how well John Craig could play and it is perhaps him on the bassoon. Please help me fill in these gaps. Any help would be appreciated. -John H.
